History
Mr. Mousa Marafi started his career with Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) as a young mechanical engineer in 1968, then progressed to Project Manager at Kuwait Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) in 1974 before being appointed Member of the Board of Director of Kuwait Melamine Industries (KMI) and subsequently became General Manager of the company in 1977.
In 1984, Mr. Marafi was appointed Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Indo-Gulf Fertlizer & Petrochemicals Company in India for two years.
In 1987, Mr. Marafi was elected Chairman and Managing Directors of Kuwait Shipbuilding and repairyards Company (KSRC), now renamed Heavy Engineering Industries and Shipbuilding Company (HEISCO), a diversified 50 Million USD industrial company listed in Kuwait Stock Market employing around 5,000 people with a solid track record and reputation in Shipbuilding, Ship Repair, Offshore Maintenance & Construction, as well as an extensive record in the execution of onshore capital engineering projects and maintenance contracts in the Oil & Gas (upstream/downstream), Petrochemical, Power Generation and Environmental Industries, with additional fabrication and manufacturing of Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers and other industrial equipments.
After 15 years full of achievements in HEISCO, Mr. Marafi retired in 2002 and decided to establish Optima in 2006.

Genesis brings to Optima a leading edge capability in field development and enhancement planning, process, facilities and pipeline design, cost engineering and project management for oil & gas field development.
Genesis have evolved today into a company with over 500 engineers and six operational offices, two in the UK (London and Aberdeen), and one each in Perth (Australia), The Hague (Netherlands), Paris (France), Cairo (Egypt) and Optima joint venture in Kuwait.
Through that structure, Optima has access to more than 600 professionals services in which a substantial proportion of the key engineering personnel have previously work for oil & gas operators and International Oil Companies. This partnership ensures that we are fully aligned with our client's business objectives, and have a good understanding of the interfaces (reservoir / wells / facilities / commercial) that influence the screening of optimised solutions for development of new prospects. This is in addition to the professionals already based in Kuwait office.
